The "LaTE" in "Cafe LaTE" stands for Language Teachers' Exchange. The Cafe Late Times is a place for English teachers relax and read the daily news in English.

What is the Cafe LaTE Times?

   The Cafe LaTE Times is an online newspaper assembled by the OIU Foreign Language Center staff especially for Japanese learners of English, particularly those living in Okinawa. The Cafe LaTE Times takes various English language news sources available on the Internet, and puts them all together for you in one convenient location.

   The Cafe LaTE Times features English editions of newspapers published in Japan, including Okinawan newspapers, national dailies, and regional weekly papers. The Cafe LaTE Times has sections for local and international news, weather, sports, entertainment, opinion, vocabulary building, hot new web sites, and even comics. Many of the news sources also have audio feeds so that you can listen to the news as well.

   Find the news sources that interest you most, and read the Cafe LaTE Times every day to improve your English. Many sites also offer audio services. On audio equipped sites you can listen to the news as well as reading it. Keep an eye out for the RealAudio icon.

   Everyone is welcome to read the Cafe LaTE Times. If you are a teacher, feel free to encourage your students to read our paper.

   The Cafe LaTE Times uses the CRAYON online news service. CRAYON stands for "CReAte Your Own Newspaper." If you are not satisfied with our selection of news, you can use the CRAYON service to quickly and easily create your own newspaper.
