A Treasure Trove of 500,000 Books

As befits the symbol of the university’s intellectual vitality, the OKIU Library is a beautiful and dignified building. It houses approximately 500,000 books and other materials and supports the excellent learning and research results of undergraduate and graduate students. Along with the wealth of materials, the Library provides excellent support services and a pleasant learning environment, including a learning commons and various databases that provide immediate access to diverse media and online information. In addition, the Library regularly holds guidance sessions for undergraduate and graduate students, such as sessions on searching for sources and writing academic papers that inform them of efficient methods of collecting and organizing materials.
Foreign Book Collection

Foreign Book Collection

To support research and study in foreign languages, the OKIU Library houses approximately 50,000 foreign books and has back issues for about 6,000 periodicals. The Library also accepts requests for books that patrons want added to the collection.
Electronic Books

Electronic Books

The number of e-books in the library collection has been rapidly increasing. These include numerous books and materials for learning English or Japanese as a foreign language, and also for research and teaching. E-books are accessible online from outside the university.

Okinawan and Ryukyuan Studies Collection

This special collection on the 2nd floor has a rich array of books and materials related to Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands, ranging from commercially sold books to historical documents from local cities and villages.

The Library has an extensive collection of foreign newspapers, academic journals and bulletins, periodicals, AV materials, and more.

Group Study Rooms

Students can use rooms where they can study and work with friends or classmates.

PC Corner

The PC Corner is equipped with personal computers and standard software, making it convenient for students to work on reports or academic papers.
