「第17回学内英語スピーチコンテスト」を開催しました！

2020年度「第17回学内英語スピーチコンテスト」を行いました！
同コンテストは、本学の学生に英語で意見発表する場を提供し、英語力の向上に貢献することを目的として、毎年、開催されています。今年は、6名の学生がエントリーし、様々な視点で日頃感じてる課題について発表しました。
優勝は、「Time with your grandparents」という題でスピーチをした糸数 瑞穂さん（英米言語文化学科3年）、2位は、カドカ サロズさん（英米言語文化学科2年）、会場賞は、糸数瑞穂さん（英米言語文化学科3年）でした。

コンテスト責任者のピーター シンプソン先生から、以下のコメントをいただいております。
【ピーター シンプソン先生のコメント】
On behalf of the Global Center, I would like to thank everyone for participating in this year's contest.Even though we had a small number of participants, and no live audience, the quality of the speeches was exceptional. All six contestants had interesting things to say, not just about themselves, but about serious matters of importance.
I was also impressed by how many students made their themes relevant to the times we are living through, including the climate crisis, Black Lives Matter, and the coronavirus．
Nevertheless, for me, Mizuho Itokazu's speech stood out from the rest because of its emotional impact, and the way it connected her personal experience with what is increasingly a global problem: our increasing disconnection from our elderly relatives. I would love to listen to the same - or similar - quality of speeches live next year.
The only lesson I would like to draw from this year‘s contest is how important it is to draw on personal experience, and use it to create a more general message.
